Is it just me or did the semester fly by? It seems like just yesterday my family and I were moving me into my dorm. Don't get me wrong, I'm so ready to be done; but at the same time, it's kind of sad. My first semester of COLLEGE is over.
I wonder, is this how every semester will be all throughout college? This is a scary thought.
Looking back, I'm so happy with the friends I've made. I could not have asked for a better start. But, will I keep these friends? When we come back from Winter break, it's time to rush. I mean let’s be real, the chances of all of us getting into the same sorority are slim to none. I am definitely ready, but am sad that this could be the end to some of the best friendships. Hopefully, I've impacted my new friends’ lives, just as they have mine. If this is true, I will be happy knowing the most important friendships have lasted.
Have you thought about what will happen as we go through yet another transition? I'm so anxious to see!
I totally agree with you, I remember my move-in like it was yesterday. I am so glad that we will be going back home though because it is definitely a much needed break. I am pretty anxious as well about how rush is going to be, it is a very exciting time. You should not worry about losing your friendships though, your true friends will be with you no matter what sorority you join, and you will certainly make many more friends as well. Good luck with rush in January!
ReplyDeleteIt is so surreal that our first semester of college is almost finished. I find it hard to believe that a whole "high school year" of grades has gone by. It is still hard to get used to. I am excited for rush after break, but I definitely needed this break coming up before going through all of that sorority recruitment stuff. I cannot wait to see what the future holds!
ReplyDeleteI totally and completely agree! The semester flew by unbelievably quick, and I am aboslutely devestated that it's over. I never thought about how rushing will result in the end of certain friendships, but you make a valid point. At the same time you are absolutely right though; the friendships that are the most important will last and I'm sure next semester will be even better than the first.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's gone by insanely quick. But my problem is I'm going to be SO bored at home. All my best friends are here and this is the place I've come to call home. And of course the question of sororities and fraternities gets brought up more and more as it gets closer to rush week, but I think that people forget we're still going to be in the same routine. It's not like once we pledge we move out of the dorms and into our frat/sorority houses. We're still in the dorms, living next to the same people, walking to classes with the same people, and eating breakfast, lunch and dinner with the same people. Personally, I'm not scared about losing the friends I have now, I'm just extremely excited about the friendships I'm going to gain throughout the next semester.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, be happy!
I can't believe first semester is over either. I've personally had the time of my life, and I have been so happy. I've met a ton of amazing people as well, and I feel closer to some people here than the people I've known at home for a longer period of time.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm not worried about these friendships ending thanks to rush. I plan on rushing too, but I don't plan on losing friends over a sorority. If these friends are the people I think they are, at the end of the day it won't matter what house we're in- we were friends before we were sorority girls. And if they are the good friends you say they are, they shouldn't care about what house someone joins and neither should you.
Instead, look at it as an opportunity to just expand that network of friends..and look to the rest of the years at SMU as the time to strengthen those friendships. No matter what letters you're sporting.
